- On May 19, 2015, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg met the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov at the Palais d'Egmont in Brussels.
The Secretary General restated NATO’s position on Russia’s illegal and illegitimate annexation of Crimea and its continued destabilisation of eastern Ukraine. He urged all parties to implement the Minsk agreements in full, and called on Russia to withdraw its troops and support for the separatists in eastern Ukraine. Stressing the importance of transparency and predictability related to military activities, Mr Stoltenberg voiced concern about the large number of snap exercises conducted by Russia. The Secretary General made clear that NATO’s policy remains unchanged. As a result of Russia’s aggressive actions in Ukraine, NATO decided in April 2014 to suspend all practical cooperation with Russia, while keeping open political channels of communications.

Over the next two days, foreign ministers of NATO will address the main challenges that NATO is facing, both to the East and to the South. To the East, we face a more assertive Russia, responsible for aggressive actions in Ukraine.
And to the South, we see turmoil, violence spreading across the Middle East and North Africa. And we are going to discuss how NATO is addressing these challenges and the changing security environment.

- “A country has been left without electricity and has lost control of its fleet of drones. Hackers are to blame…” Such is the scenario for Locked Shields, a simulation exercise involving 400 of the world’s top computer experts.
Taking place in Estonia and involving around 400 computer experts from 16 nations, the drill was organised by the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence based in Tallinn. Locked Shields is a scenario-based exercise where teams of cyber defence experts have to protect a realistic virtual network.
A team from the NATO Computer Incident Response Capability won first place, with Estonia and Poland taking second and third place respectively.

- The disclosure of secret NATO documents is bringing to new life more than 30 years of military and political discussions - from the signing of the North Atlantic Treaty in 1949 to the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, passing through the Suez Crisis in 1956 and the assassination of US President John F. Kennedy in 1963.
On the occasion of the visit of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to the NATO Archives, we had the chance to talk with the archivist about the most interesting documents now becoming public, with the NATO Secretary General and a special guest, his father, Thorvald Stoltenberg.
