- At international military exercise Capable Logistician, outside the Hungarian town of Veszprem, a number of leading scientists and engineers gathered to demonstrate the latest in equipment and technology.
High on the agenda was ways to conserve energy on the battlefield, and prevent the need for vast quantities of fuel – often an enemy target in the past. Militaries from various NATO and NATO contributing nations also demonstrated logistic capabilities in a large-scale live fire exercise.

- Ships, planes, and hundreds of Marines attacked a beachfront off the Baltic Sea this week. This impressive show of force is part of BALTOPS 2015 - an annual US-led NATO exercise designed to enhance flexibility and interoperability, and demonstrate the resolve of allied and partner forces to defend the Baltic region.
Thousands of military personnel take part in this multinational exercise involving 49 ships, 61 aircraft, 1 submarine, and a combined landing force of 700 troops. 17 NATO Allies and partner nations participated in BALTOPS 2015, which took place in Poland, Sweden, Germany, and throughout the Baltic Sea.

- The first of NATO’s five unmanned air vehicles rolled off the factory line in San Diego on Thursday 4 June 2015. The Global Hawk Block 40 is part of the Alliance Ground Surveillance Program (AGS). The NATO-owned and -operated AGS core capability will enable the Alliance to perform persistent surveillance over wide areas from high-altitude long-endurance aircraft in any weather or light condition. The system will give commanders a comprehensive picture of the situation on the ground.
The AGS system is being acquired by 15 Allies (Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and the United States). AGS is scheduled to reach initial operational capability by the end of 2017. The air vehicles will be controlled from the main operating centre in Sigonella, Italy.

- Anti-submarine warfare has dramatically changed since the Cold War.
This video looks at new technology and tactics deployed recently during an exercise in the North Sea. Including underwater, unmanned vehicles guided by underwater sensor networks, frigates with variable-depth sonar and specialised airplanes known as Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA). We also speak to submarine commanders and scientists on the cutting edge of underwater technology.
