- Terror in Rohingya refugee camp as boys kidnapped to fight in Myanmar | Radio Free Asia (RFA)

- Abductions have long plagued the refugee camps in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. Men and women are trafficked for labor or sex work, leaders are abducted as punishment for their advocacy, and sometimes refugees are kidnapped simply in order to extort funds from their family.
But starting earlier this year, a different kidnapping became common. Facing mounting battlefield losses, Myanmar’s junta announced that it would begin enforcing a long-dormant conscription law.
In Rakhine state, where the junta is fighting a number of resistance groups, its efforts to add soldiers have not stopped at the border.

- Description
- Thousands of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh’s Cox’s Bazar on Sunday (August 25) braved torrential monsoon rains to mark seven years since their exodus from their homeland in Myanmar.
More than 730,000 Rohingya Muslims fled Rakhine state in Myanmar in August 2017 after a military crackdown in response to an attack by Muslim militants, that refugees said included mass killings and rape. Rights groups documented civilian killings and villages being burnt.
In recent weeks thousands more Rohingya are believed to have fled Myanmar’s Rakhine state, as fighting escalates between the troops of the ruling junta and the Arakan Army, the powerful ethnic militia that recruits from the Buddhist majority.
