NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg met with the new President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, at the headquarters of the Council in Brussels on Wednesday (3 December 2014). The meeting took place only a few days into Mr. Tusk’s new mandate.
The two leaders discussed shared challenges, including developments in the Ukraine crisis, and the importance of continued close cooperation. The Secretary General said that NATO and the European Union must continue to work in mutually reinforcing ways, “so that in a dangerous world, we can and must be stronger together.”

- British Corporal Jay Davies talks about losing team mates in Helmand. They got caught in a minefield and had to wait for a Black Hawk to rescue them.
In September 2006 members of the UK 3rd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, were deployed on a ridge overlooking the Kajaki Dam in northern Helmand.
On 6 September they got caught in a minefield. Corporal Stuart Hale triggered an old Soviet mine and lay injured.

From July 2006, a fire support group of 3rd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, held a high ridge feature in the northern centre of Helmand Province near the Kajaki Dam.
On 6 September the leader of a sniper patrol, tasked with engaging a group of Taliban fighters operating on the principal highway, was heading down the steep slope when he initiated a mine and sustained severe injuries.

On 1 November 2014 the Georgian Army took over the force protection of Bagram Air Field, the biggest airbase in Afghanistan.
It marks an important contribution from the Georgians since they began supporting the NATO mission in Afghanistan in 2004.
