- Medical District continues to transform the medical landscape of Las Vegas
More than 20 years ago the city of Las Vegas set out on the noble goal of creating a medical epicenter to cultivate and enhance healthcare in the city. Since then some 400 million dollars in private and public investment has gone into the Medical District including the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV. And that academic medicine has spawned the need for a walkable and safe community where students and medical professionals can learn, teach, work and play.
As the Medical District continues to take form the state is taking notice and in mid--August awarded the school of medicine 70 million dollars to expand services. And, there is so much more to come including an expansion of the women's cancer center, a 54 bed memory care senior housing community, a hotel and more.
