- Riding a four-game losing streak coming into Saturday Night's matchup against the red-hot and 18-5, 7-3 in the Mountain West Utah State Aggies, CSU (10-13, 2-8 MW) looked to pull off the massive upset and get their season slightly more on track with a tight W in front of the home faithful - but, to the disappointment of the solid crowd in attendance at Moby Arena this past weekend, the Rams, only equipped with seven scholarship players due to a rash of illness and injury, unsurprisingly ran out of gas in the end, falling to their much more equipped opponent from Logan, 88-79. - Earlier on Saturday, the CSU women's basketball team (14-8, 7-4) hosted the Wyoming Cowgirls (15-7, 8-3) for the annual Pink Out Night at Moby Arena. The festivities would also mark 2023's first round of the Border War. The Rams entered the afternoon sitting fourth in the Mountain West Conference, while Wyoming resided just one place above them in third. CSU, however, proved to be the better of the two, beating out the Cowgirls 66-63. McKenna Hofschild mastered the floor, leading in points (25) and assists (9). Right behind her for the Rams was Cailyn Crocker, who came in clutch with 12 points of her own that helped guide her team to a huge home victory. - Last Thursday, the CSU women’s basketball team (13-8, 6-4) hosted the Utah State Aggies (4-17, 1-9) for an odd weekday morning clash. But, the strange tip-off time had a reason: it was Education Day at Moby Arena, with thousands of elementary kids from Poudre School District in attendance. The rowdy youngsters created a home environment like no other, and it seemingly rattled Utah State as the Aggies never found their footing. CSU dominated this game throughout, most notably from the perimeter. The Rams cashed in 13 triples by the time the afternoon rolled around, cruising rather easily to an 86-64 victory and snapping a three-game skid. All of this and more from CTV Sports!

- Last Tuesday, the CSU men’s basketball team (10-12, 2-7) welcomed the UNLV Rebels (14-7, 3-6) to Moby Arena for a weekday showdown. These two teams met not too long ago in the Sin City, where CSU, on the back of Isaiah Stevens, stole an absolute heartbreaker 82-81 in overtime. Fast forward 17 days and the Rams were on the hunt for a regular season sweep, something the Rebels accomplished last year despite Colorado State’s run to the NCAA Tournament. Unfortunately for the home faithful, the 6-0 lead the Rams built in the first 2:30 of the contest was the only stretch of applause as the Rebels charged forward the rest of the night, with their largest lead being 22. In the end, it was an 83-71 triumph for the road invaders, extending CSU’s losing streak to four. The Rams will get another chance to get back in the win column this weekend against UNLV. Meanwhile, UNLV battles Fresno State late Saturday night. All of this and more from CTV Sports!

- On Wednesday, Jan. 18, the CSU men’s basketball team (10-9, 2-4) hosted the San Diego State Aztecs (13-4, 4-1) in the annual white-out game at Moby Arena. San Diego State, which currently resides well in the field of 64 for the NCAA Tournament, aimed to rebound after a tough home loss to New Mexico. Meanwhile, the Rams sought to pick up a huge conference win to avoid falling further down the standings. Right out of the gate, Colorado State clicked on all cylinders, with John Tonje, Isaiah Stevens, and Isaiah Rivera hitting the team’s first three buckets from beyond the arc. Other than one lead change with 4:22 remaining in the first half, the Rams maintained control and entered the intermission up by six, 34-28. Despite CSU extending its lead to nine in the earlier parts of the second, the closing 13 minutes of regulation were neck and neck. - Last Saturday, Jan 21, the CSU women's basketball team (13-5, 6-1) battled the UNLV Lady Rebels (18-2, 8-0) in a highly-anticipated conference affair. After dropping the first meeting between the two in overtime on New Year’s Eve, Colorado State rode into the weekend with a six-game win streak. Round two would provide the Rams a chance for redemption and put them in the driver’s seat for an NCAA Tournament bid with a win. However, things didn’t look great at the onset, as UNLV hopped to a 14-5 lead in the first 3:30 of play. But, the Rams found their footing, cutting the early deficit and trading buckets with the Rebels to keep within striking distance, down just three at the break.
