- Iran has said it would show "zero restraint" if its energy infrastructure was targeted again, as it intensified its attacks on oil and natural gas facilities around the Gulf following an Israeli attack on one of its key gas fields.
An overnight strike on South Pars, the Iranian part of the world’s largest gas field, located offshore in the Persian Gulf and owned jointly with Qatar, sent global oil and gas prices rising sharply.
Earlier, Donald Trump said the US and Israel had "obliterated" Iran's navy, air force, and leadership.
The U.S. president also said he would not be deploying US troops to the region, amid reporting that his administration was considering deploying thousands of troops.
In a televised address, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel will hold off on any further attacks on Iran's giant natural gas field, at Trump's request.
He also laid out Israel's three main objectives for the w...

But in just 20 days, everything has changed with the start of the war in the Middle East.
This morning, the price of UK natural gas, which is used to calculate domestic energy bills, jumped by 15% after the bombing of the world's largest natural gas field in Qatar.
Oil has jumped to over $116 a barrel, just a day before the first missile was fired at Iran; a barrel was trading at $72.
At the pumps, petrol has risen by 10 pence per litre and diesel by 20 pence, with prices expected to climb further.

- Israeli strikes on Lebanon have intensified, as well as targeting Iran's gas facilities .
The gasfield strikes mark the first reported attack on Iranian infrastructure since the beginning of the conflict.
Israel also flattened an apartment building in central Beirut about an hour after issuing an evacuation notice - the fourth time the building was targeted. Israel’s military claimed it was being used by Hezbollah to store “millions of dollars intended to finance its activities,” without providing evidence.
Ten people were killed in Israeli airstrikes in central Beirut, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry. Another two people were killed in an airstrike in Lebanon’s western Bekaa Valley, it said.
Israeli strikes have displaced more than 1 million Lebanese — roughly 20% of the population — according to the Lebanese government, which says 968 people have been killed.

We don't know that much about the start either - not the terrible experiences of those who call Tehran home. A blacked out internet and the ongoing stranglehold of a repressive regime make that almost impossible.
But tonight we have the secret despatch from a city under fire, made at great personal risk by an Iranian film maker, in a collaboration between ITV News and the documentary studio Zandland.

39 MSs voted to bring in the ban with 10 against and two abstentions.
But critics of the ban say they have launched a legal challenge against the decision.
The Welsh Government said a transition period will be in place to allow the industry to 'wind down responsibility' and to strengthen rehoming arrangements for retired greyhounds.
They added that the prohibition of racing will come into effect between 1 April 2027 and 1 April 2030.

- Holyrood has rejected legislation that would have made Scotland the first nation in the UK to legalise assisted dying.
Scotland's parliament rejected the Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Adults (Scotland) Bill, brought forward by Liberal Democrat MSP Liam McArthur, by 57 to 69.
Health Secretary Neil Gray announced earlier in the day that he would abstain.
The decision came after opponents of the Bill raised concerns about the impact the legislation could have on vulnerable and disabled people – while others raised concerns about a lack of safeguards for medical professionals opting out of the process.
MSPs made changes to the Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Adults (Scotland) Bill in four lengthy sessions at Holyrood last week, with a total of 175 changes to the legislation agreed.
This was the third time MSPs have considered legislation on assisted dying, with two previous attempts having failed at their first vote.<...

- Trump lashes out as allies refuse to be drawn into 'wider Middle East war'
- Date posted
- Description
- President Trump has tonight said he's "very surprised" at the UK's attitude to the Iran War and said Britain should be "involved enthusiastically".
Trump has called for countries including the UK to join a mission to protect shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, but the Sir Keir Starmer has so far resisted the US president’s demands.
Iran has effectively shut the vital oil and gas shipping route by targeting vessels in response to the US-Israeli air strikes.
Replying to a question from ITV News' Political Editor Robert Peston on whether the UK will heed Trump's call to send the Royal Navy to the major trade route in the Middle East, the UK Prime Minister said there have been "discussions ongoing" with global partners.
"It is not straightforward, and therefore we have to make sure that we've got that credible plan in place as to what the precise options are," he told reporters at a Downing Street conference.

- Is this the new Gaza? Israeli strikes on Lebanon continue

- Description
- Israel's ongoing attacks in southern Lebanon and on the capital Beirut have raised fears that the country could be turned into another Gaza.
Lebanon is being pounded by Israeli forces who see a chance of destroying Hezbollah's strongholds once and for all.
Already, Israeli strikes on Lebanon have killed at least 886 people - including more than 100 children - with around 800,000 others displaced.
The statistics are grim enough by themselves. But what they mean in human terms is far more shocking and horrific.
