Binkley, 55, said he thinks people can unify the country “by listening to and respecting one another.” More than 750 people came to the University of Texas at Dallas campus to attend Binkley’s campaign announcement event.
The economy, budget and health care were among Binkley’s major focal points. Binkley also said he wants to address border issues and immigration with “peace, safety, security and care.”
“We have to be unified,” Binkley said. “We have to be in this place, because if we’re in a time of uncertainty, what it’s going to take is faith in God and faith in each other to get us through, and it’s not time for us to back down. It’s time for us to believe.”

- Artists find home and inspiration in Dallas' Tin District

- Description
- Circuslike images pop in turquoise and black ink in the woodcut print by artist Benjamin Muñoz. Words scream “Beyond Belief” and “El Otro Lado.”
Desireé Vaniecia fills canvases with Black women looking meditative, maternal or mischievous. Art nouveau motifs often frame the silhouettes. She’s intent on exploring the softer side of womanhood.
Jay Chung paints what he knows well: the isolation of immigrants and children left behind. Beautiful skies of indigo, rose and terra cotta contrast with refugees in a series inspired by trips to Greece and Bangladesh.
Muñoz, Chung and Vaniecia are part of a community of nearly 100 artists nestled in studios of warehouses sprayed rebelliously with graffiti and murals around Fabrication Street in West Dallas.

The sisters were surgically separated in January by a team of plastic surgeons, nurses, neonatologists, in one of the most complicated — and lengthy — surgeries the hospital’s pediatric department had seen. The omphalopagus pair was connected at the chest and shared a liver.

- Let's try a 2-foot-long cheeseburger at the Rangers' Globe Life Field
- Date posted
- Description
- The Texas Rangers are keeping their big, bold tradition alive in 2023 by selling a 2-foot-long beef burger at baseball games this year.
The new Boomstick Burger follows the name of the Rangers’ first ballpark belt-buster 11 years ago. It all started with the simple — but simply huge — 2-foot-long hot dog named the Boomstick. Over a decade, the Rangers’ concessions company, Delaware North, has also served a 2-foot-long brownie, a massive ghost pepper burger, a chicken sandwich the size of a dinner plate and a chicken tender that Rangers Insider Evan Grant held like a baseball bat.
Many of those oversized options don’t make it onto menus for a second year; these headline-makers are one-and-done.
This year’s concession options are big, beefy, messy or meatless. Evan and I tried all six. Let’s dig in.

Acosta will receive an automatic sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole because prosecutors did not seek the death penalty.
Acosta, 34, drove his son, Abel Elias Acosta, to and from a Texaco station the night of Dec. 26, 2021, where police said the boy gunned down three teenagers and wounded a fourth. - Chicago native Nick Tague was the first customer in line for the opening of Portillo's in The Colony. He ordered up all his favorites and it was, "just as good as [he] remembered."
The long-awaited dining spot opened on Monday, Jan. 9, 2023 in the Grandscape shopping area of The Colony. Portillo’s sells Chicago street food: hot dogs, burgers, fries, onion rings and a legendary Italian beef sandwich.

- A first look: 12.9-mile Five Mile Creek trail would link Oak Cliff neighborhoods with LOOP
- Date posted
- Description
- Proposed 78 years ago as southern Dallas’ own Turtle Creek, this project deserves funding. The “can this really be Dallas?” view from atop an old railroad trestle on the city’s west side hints at the glorious potential of the proposed Five Mile Creek Trail. Even with the trees and undergrowth in hibernation, this tucked-away spot near the creek’s headwaters is a meditative canvas of nature’s pastoral handiwork. I would have spent the entire balmy January afternoon up there, but many more stops awaited in my west-to-east exploration of the route envisioned for a 12.9-mile hike-and-bike trail connecting dozens of underserved Oak Cliff neighborhoods.
