- A beautiful white tornado forms in grasslands in the sweeping hills of Nebraska, around 15 miles north of Scottsbluff.
The forecast was very marginal this day, and the tornadic storm formed outside of the predicted areas issued by the SPC.
The rancher (land owner) confirmed no structures, pets, or livestock were on the land. He enjoyed watching the storm with storm chaser Daniel Shaw.

- Early this afternoon, Hickson Rd, in Sydney's CBD was shut down after a large construction site fire took hold at the Barangaroo building site.
Fire crews arrived quickly to discover scaffolding materials alight. Internal fire attack was performed by Fire & Rescue NSW, however crews were evacuated after discovering that the formwork that supports the crane was weakened.
Emergency services from NSW ambulance, NSW police and other specialist commands were tasked to the major incident.
Arterial roads were closed during the prolonged operation as there was a threat that a one hundred metre crane could topple over.
The blaze was widespread and across two levels of the basements construction formwork.

- A man has suffered suspected serious spinal injuries after diving into a rock pool on the northern end of Coogee Beach.
The man was accompanied by a female friend when it's understood he became wedged in a number of rocks.
The female contacted emergency services and they responded in significant numbers.
Access to the patient was in a remote area, however stairs helped rescue services with assisting and extracting the man.
Police from eastern beaches local area command, police rescue and NSW Ambulance responded to the rescue.
After around 40 minutes, the man was stabilized and spinal precautions implemented.
It's understood the male had been drinking prior to jumping into the water in near pitch black conditions.
The male was transported to St Vincent's hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Paramedics fear that spinal damage has occurred during the incident.

- At around 1.30am, emergency services responded to the intersection of Bridge St and Gresham St, in the Sydney CBD.
It's understood construction crews breached a large high pressure gas main, sending workers running for cover.
The first arriving fire appliance from The Rocks could hear the loud gas leak venting from over a block away.
Police closed the road in both directions and established exclusion zones for pedestrians and traffic.
NSW Ambulance arrived and remained on standby during the operation.
Additional fire crews also arrived to support the The Rocks fire station with breathing apparatus.
Fire crews established a high pressure water spray to disperse the gas and prevent it from igniting.

- A crime scene has been established at the intersection of Fleet St and Cumberland Sts in Carlton.
Shortly after 4:00am police and paramedics responded to reports of a man who had been shot.
On arrival, they found a male aged in his twenties lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his arm and groin.
It's not known if the wounds were from a pistol or a shotgun, however no cartridges could be seen at the location.
Intensive care paramedics rushed the man to St George hospital, where it's understood he will undergo surgery.
He is currently in a stable condition.
Police at the scene stated long trails of blood were spread around the streets, however it's not clear where the shooting took place.

- At around 1.30pm, locals and tourists ran for their lives after a sedan crashed after series of freak accidents.
An elderly man, aged in his nineties was travelling through Lamrock Ave when it's believed he suffered a medical issue.
Dale Hutson was at the intersection when the car headed his way. He jumped out of the way, with the vehicle missing him by a couple of metres. Dale saw the driver inside "in lock mode" believing he was suffering a seizure.
After Dale escaped, the car impacted into the side of a Boost Juice building, the car then proceeded up the footpath at speed and towards the Moo Burger restaurant.
Dannielle Arnott, the manager of Moo Burger heard screams and saw her front tables destroyed as the car passed at speed.
During peak periods, up to sixteen people can be seated outside the restaurant. Today there were none.

- At around 8.20pm, emergency services were called to the intersection of Forest Rd and Stewart St in Arncliffe following numerous reports of a serious collision.
Passing motorists and a large group of residents assisted in the early stages of the accident, however they were unable to free the drivers and one of the trapped passengers.
Rescue crews worked for around 2 hours to free the trapped driver of the Mitsubishi Sedan.
The driver of an ice cream truck which had overturned in the collision was trapped for a short time. He was freed and transported to hospital.
It's believed the red Mitsubishi Lancer impacted with the stationary ice cream truck in a suspected high speed collision.

- Passengers travelling towards the city from Bondi Junction this afternoon were shocked after the train they were travelling on derailed around 300m to the west of Edgecliff station.
At around 5.30pm, 700 passengers aboard the Eastern suburbs train were jolted by the incident.
A number of witnesses said that they smelt smoke during the crash.
The derailment was considered minor in nature, however a metal pole, referred to as "metal channelling" smashed its way into the centre of one of the carriages.
Janice Meyer was the closest person next to the impact zone as the piece of metal smashed its way through the floor and into the ceiling. Bits of debris hit Janice as she ducked for cover.

- At around 4.20am, emergency services responded to numerous calls for assistance after a Mitsubishi Sedan fragmented into pieces following a high speed accident.
The collision occurred on Port Hacking Rd, just north of Bellingara Road.
Skid marks could be seen hundreds of metres down the road, prior to the final resting place of the destroyed car.
It's understood a government bus had its side door destroyed during the collision. Twenty two passengers were on board, but all escaped serious injury.
The car left the road and landed on another parked car.
Live fallen power lines delayed the rescue operation as all three males remained trapped inside the crashed vehicle.
Once power was isolated, fire & rescue crews began the slow process of taking the car apart.
It took over an hour and a half to release all the patients, who were aged between 18 and 22 years old.

- Four youths have been arrested after an alleged stolen car crashed in Glebe this morning.
At around 3am, police patrolling William Henry St Ultimo, witnessed a silver Subaru sedan with five people on board.
Police attempted to pull the vehicle over, however the driver failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated.
Police will allege the driver ran a red light and collided with a small truck.
The 5 youths escaped the vehicle and ran from the scene.
Three were quickly arrested on scene and assessed by paramedics. Two were taken to hospital.
The NSW police dog squad successfully located another male who was hiding in a nearby construction site.
The dog, who is due to retire in 3 months was rewarded by his long term handler.
A fifth person is still on the run.
Police have seized a number of items from the car and investigations are continuing.

- Rose Bay police, Bondi police and the Marine Area Command are examining the circumstances surrounding a shooting at Rose Bay wharf overnight.
At around 11.35pm, police responded to the wharf at Lyne Park on New South Head Rd. NSW Ambulance responded primary and intensive care crews, expecting to be confronted with a shooting victim.
However, no victim could be found and police established a large crime scene at the Wharf.
Bullets sprayed a boat called "Oscar II" smashing out the side windows.
Less than 30 minutes later, police and paramedics were called to the intersection of Campbell Parade and Lamrock Ave in Bondi Beach after a man was found shot in the back.
A 31-year-old man was treated and transported to St Vincent's hospital for treatment. He has since been released.

- At around 8.00pm emergency services responded to calls for assistance, after a car drove into the front of a house in Manning Rd, Double Bay.
Two brothers who were playing at the time of the accident were shaken by the crash. Angus & Ben Horton investigated the sounds and immediately sought assistance from their parents.
The father and neighbour, Richard Horton, rushed in to render assistance to his fellow neighbour, helping a mother and son trapped in the car.
Falling bricks hampered rescue efforts as the neighbour and driver helped the elderly lady from the car.
Police arrived shortly after, supported by paramedics and Fire & Rescue NSW. The elderly lady was treated for shock and comforted by family.
Manning Rd was closed in both directions for over an hour whilst the rescue operations was under way.

- NSW Police are investigating an incident in Bondi Beach between two taxi drivers.
At around 11pm, it's understood a taxi driver had an altercation with another driver.
Witnesses saw the taxi driver partially inside the window of the second taxi, when it's understood the taxi drove away.
The man was dragged approximately 50 metres from where the taxis were parked.
The other driver is assisting police with their investigation.
The injured taxi driver received significant head injuries and has been placed in an induced coma.

- Police are searching for the person or persons responsible for turning a motor vehicle into an uncontrolled "missile" in Lethbridge Park overnight.
At around 2.00am, police were contacted by a number of residents after a white Nissan X-Trail SUV crashed through a number of properties.
A stolen vehicle had its accelerator secured, which turned the car into an out of control projectile.
The vehicle was abandoned and set to roam free at high speed through Ponpondetta Park.
The reckless act could have proven fatal, however the vehicle ended up smashing through a section of Colourbond steel fencing, decapitating a hills hoist clothes line, smashing through a 2nd Colourbond fence, jumping the corner of a pool, crashing through a support beam of a 2nd storey house, prior to finally crashing into the back of a home.

- At around 2.00am, emergency services responded to a serious car crash on St Marks Road in Randwick.
On arrival, a 20-year-old male was found trapped inside his vehicle with severe injuries to his lower limbs.
Intensive care paramedics were tasked to the incident and a further upgrade to a medical team was requested.
The male was trapped for 1 hour and 50 minutes. Police Rescue, Fire & Rescue NSW, and Paramedics worked tirelessly to free the male.
A total of three vehicles were damaged, with two being written off.
The force of the impact was so great that a parked truck was forced onto the footpath.
An ambulance spokesman said the male was very lucky to survive.
The male was transported to St Vincent's hospital in a serious but stable condition. He has suffered extensive lower limb injuries.

- The father of Michael McEwen appealed for public information to assist the police investigation into his son's critical assault.
At 1.40am on Saturday 14th December, Michael was viciously assaulted and was subjected to having his head stomped on after being knocked to the ground.
Michael's father, Robert McEwan bravely led the family and fronted a large waiting media presence to appeal for witnesses to his son's attack.
Michael remains in a critical but stable condition at St Vincent's hospital. He is expected to survive, however the lasting impacts of his brain injury are still unknown.
Police have renewed their appeal for information for witnesses to come forward, and for anyone who may have witnessed activity around the areas of Campbell Parade and Hall St in Bondi.

- At around 1.45am this morning, NSW Police and NSW Ambulance crews responded to calls for assistance after a 23-year-old male was seriously assaulted.
The man was found semi-conscious by Police and was rendered first aid.
Paramedics continued to assess the male with the additional support from the Intensive Care crews.
Police drove the ambulance to St Vincent's hospital whilst all the paramedics undertook critical treatment.
The male lost consciousness during his treatment and was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

- The NSW Police Marine unit, along with the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) are calling for all boat owners to ensure they have their emergency EPIRB beacons registered.
It's a requirement under Australian maritime laws, that all vessels travelling 2 or more nautical miles off shore, to have a "current" EPIRB and ensure that it is registered with the AMSA.
Over the past year, Australia had 1500 beacon activations detected, with bushwalkers and marine emergencies the primary reason.
Around 34% of these 1500 activations were due to mishandling or malfunctions. Actual emergencies accounted for 14%.
The AMSA has explained that the simple and free registration of a beacon can save valuable resources in responding to false alarms.
Should a false activation occur, owners are asked to contact the AMSA on 1800-406-406.

The first incident occurred in Blair St at 12.30am.
It's alleged a 25-year-old male who is believed to be from Ireland, crashed his car causing it to rollover.
Witnesses saw three males escape the vehicle, one who was dressed in a "Santa Suit". Witnesses said their priority was to not forget the beers which were trapped inside the vehicle.

- Fire crews save backpackers hostel after blaze in Bondi Junction

- At around 3.30am, a manager from a backpackers hostel in Paul St, Bondi Junction was alerted to the smell of smoke.
It's understood the blaze started in a tree next to the manager's office. The manager attempted to extinguish the blaze but was unsuccessful.
The fire quickly spread and engulfed a large rear building adjoining the hostel.
Fire crews from Woollahra, Bondi and Randwick responded quickly to the blaze and began immediate fire attack.
Fire crews called for additional assistance from other nearby stations.
Around thirty residents from a neighbouring unit complex, along with twenty people from the hostel were evacuated.
The manager of the backpackers was able to safely evacuate all hostel guests without injury or incident.

- A rock fisherman was saved by a number of rescue services this morning at Diamond Bay, at the coast of Dover Heights & Vaucluse
At around 9.30am, a male fisherman was swept off rocks by a large wave.
His fishing partner called emergency services and full scale rescue operation was underway.
Bondi Lifeguards sent out their Jetski, whilst the Westpac Life Saver Helicopter and MRU Ambulance helicopter was dispatched.
Ground crews from local police, police rescue, surf life saving NSW and paramedics watched from the cliff face.
The male was initially assisted by Bondi Lifeguards, prior to being winched by the Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter.
Both helicopters landed in Christensen Park in Vaucluse where the fisherman was assessed by paramedics.

- A 17-year-old teenager from Sadlier has been arrested after a high speed pursuit in Sydney's eastern beaches.
At around 10.30pm on the 16 November, NSW police attempted to pull over a silver Ford Territory SUV.
Police will allege that the driver failed to stop and police chased the car for around two minutes. The pursuit was called off for safety reasons near Kingsford.
Soon after, the vehicle later crashed into a Holden Commodore at the intersection of Moverly Rd and Anzac Parade in Maroubra.
Two men fled the crash scene but were later caught a few hundred metres up the road.
Both driver and passenger were arrested and taken to Maroubra police station where paramedics checked on their welfare.
Another ambulance treated a female who was involved in the hit and run collision. It's understood she suffered soft tissue injuries and possible broken ribs.

- At around 3.00am this morning, fire crews responded to a large building fire in Belmore Rd in Punchbowl.
On arrival, an urgent upgrade of resources was requested. Fire crews from across Sydney were dispatched to the incident.
The blaze was so intense and dangerous, that only an external attack was possible.
Fire commanders had serious concerns about neighbouring buildings, with the primary risk of fire spread as well as a building collapse.
Quick actions saved the fire from spreading to the rear section of the property, however the front section of the storage warehouse has been destroyed.

- At around 9.00pm, emergency services responded to numerous calls to a unit explosion in Bridge Rd, in Glebe.
On arrival, Fire & Rescue NSW searched the building for signs of fire and anyone trapped inside.

A car passing by, along with a pedestrian were lucky to escape injury as glass showered the roadway.

- NSW Police are investigating a drowning in Sydney Harbour, after an elderly man was spotted face down in the water around 150 metres off shore in Double Bay.
Good Samaritans entered the water, retrieved the man and began CPR. He was taken to a nearby wharf where police assisted with resuscitation.
NSW Police continued CPR until Paramedics declared the man deceased on scene.
It's understood his small boat was taken on shore at Double Bay.
Police have begun their investigations into the man's death.
Rose Bay police have asked for any witnesses surrounding the man's death to contact them.

- At 5.20pm yesterday afternoon, 04 November, emergency services were contacted and a large scale search was launched after a swimmer went missing on Bondi Beach.
Two Japanese nationals entered the water on Bondi Beach for a swim, however alarms were raised when they began to struggle in very heavy surf.
Bondi Lifeguards managed to rescue one of the men, however the other 22-year-old male disappeared and drowned.
Assistance was called in from both the Westpac Lifesaver 1 helicopter and NSW Ambulance MRU Rescue Helicopter, however neither aerial patrols could find the missing man in the heavy waves.
NSW Water Police & Surf Life Saving NSW also attended and assisted.

- Two men remain in a serious condition after two separate "explosive devices" were detonated in NSW.
The first incident occurred yesterday, 3rd November in Hillsdale at around 4.40pm.
Paramedics were escorted into the scene by NSW police.
A male in his mid-twenties was screaming in pain whilst being comforted by surrounding neighbours. A towel was wrapped around his bloody hand in an attempt to stop the flow of blood.
The male lost parts of his fingers in the explosion. He was treated on scene, prior to being transported to Sydney Hospital in Macquarie St.
He is understood to be in surgery today to repair the damage. NSW Police have yet to formally speak with the male.
A resident said he heard a massive explosion over a block away in a nearby park.
Police canvassed the area but could not locate any device or remains of an explosion.

- Brazilian National Lucio Rodrigues, passed away on the 5th November at 9.30am, after undergoing emergency surgery.
Lucio had been in Australia studying and enjoying life, until a thoughtless act on a Sydney weekend ended his life.
The 34-year-old male from Brazil was viciously assaulted outside a fast food restaurant on Goulburn St in Sydney's CBD.
It's understood he attempted to stop an argument between a couple of people.
At 3.00am Lucio was king hit and he fell backwards hitting his head on the pavement.
Doctors lost their battle to save his life during surgery at St Vincent's Hospital.
The offender who hit Lucio has since had his charges upgraded to murder.
The 33-year-old man from South Hurstville remains in jail until another appearance in court later today.
Despite all the pleas from doctors, paramedics and police, further assaults are likely in weekends to come.

- At around 6.40pm emergency crews responded to numerous reports of a house fire in Fletcher St, bordering the suburbs of Bondi and Tamarama.
Three local residents smashed their way into the burning home to perform a daring search and rescue.
The lead local rescuer said the fire was quite large, and he and his two flatmates kicked every door down in the home.
They escaped the burning home after making sure no one was trapped inside.
Thick black smoke could be seen billowing into the evening skyline from a number of suburbs.
The rear of the home was engulfed in flames, whilst the rest was severely damaged by heat and smoke.
Fire Investigation crews completed their preliminary investigations at 12.30am
Police are investigating the blaze, however at this time don't believe it's suspicious.

- At around 1.55am Fire & Rescue NSW responded to emergency calls for assistance after reports of a large house fire on Botany Rd, Botany.
Prior to the arrival of emergency services, neighbours attempted to access the property, however they were unable to reach the man who was believed to be trapped inside.
Fire crews extingushed the blaze around an hour after it started, but later found the remains of the resident inside.
Neighbours were shocked by his death and said he was a kind hearted man who put his community before himself.
It is not known if smoke detectors were installed.
The house was destroyed by flames, heat and smoke.
Fire investigation and crime scene officers are examining the scene, however the blaze is not believed to be suspicious.

- Man saved in dramatic Ambulance helicopter rescue in Bronte

- At around 7.00pm, emergency services received a call from a male who had suffered a suspected broken ankle and was stuck on the rocks off the cliff face near Bronte.
NSW Ambulance, Police Rescue, Local Police and the Ambulance rescue helicopter were sent to the incident.
Police rescue prepared rigging for a descent down the cliff face, whilst SCAT helicopter paramedics conducted a series of runs along the rocks in preparation for a rescue.
The male was in a stable condition, however there were fears that large waves could impact on his safety.
As night fell, a skilful helicopter pilot hovered above the rocks and breaking waves and managed to extract the male to safety with the assistance of SCAT Paramedic, Paula Sinclair and a doctor.
Ms Sinclair spoke with FreeNews about the rescue and thanked Police Rescue and local paramedics for putting in place a "Plan B", should the helicopter extraction become unsuccessful.

Police have expanded their motorcycle patrols to now include weekends.
"Operation Fabian" will begin this weekend and will undertake high-visibility patrols throughout the Sydney CBD.
Motorcycles from the NSW Police highway patrol will roam the streets, watching the traffic and pedestrians very carefully.
During a press conference held on the 17 October, 2013, Police stated that the weekday patrols have had a real impact on reducing traffic incidents across the CBD.
The MRT, "Motorcycle Response Team" are able to quickly navigate the streets of Sydney and assist with gridlocked intersections.
Although over a thousand infringements have been issued, this operation focuses on safety rather than raising revenue.

- Fire crews throughout Sydney were kept busy today after an electrical fire took hold in the de-commissioned Sydney Water building in Bathurst St, Sydney.
At around 9.55am, Fire & Rescue NSW responded to an automatic fire alarm, with supporting triple zero calls that an electrical fire was present.
Crews arrived within minutes and immediately upgraded their commitment to tackle the blaze.
Within an hour, the response was upgraded to an 8th Alarm.
Crews were subjected to extreme heat, no visibility and heavy smoke throughout the basement levels. It's understood the fire started in an electrical substation, located in the basement levels of the building.
Ausgrid attended and worked with fire crews to isolate the power, however the old and complicated power grid could not guarantee isolation. Due to the risk of electrocution, crews could only tackle the blaze with carbon dioxide and limited water spray.

- At around 10.15pm, Fire & Rescue NSW received eighty-two calls to their triple zero emergency line reporting a large home on fire in Hastings Parade at North Bondi.
The first arriving fire station from Bondi called in a "Red Message" upgrading the incident to a 2nd alarm structure fire. Flames were seen leaping from the roof and rear of the property.
Crews quickly established a working area and sourced water for the fire-fighting operations.
Fire fighters geared up in breathing apparatus and began the first sweep of search and rescue.
Residents confirmed that everyone had safely evacuated and efforts were directed towards fire control.
The flames and heat were so intense, that it set one adjoining and one neighbouring property alight.
Over a hundred residents lined the surrounding streets watching the large blaze take hold.

- At around 12.30am, fire crews were called to a large blaze in the northern suburb of Turramurra.
Initial reports were that two elderly residents were trapped inside.
On arrival the first arriving fire truck was confronted with a house fully engulfed in flames.
Due to the difficult access, fire attack was conducted from neighbouring properties.
Four large gas tanks were a great cause for concern, as they may have exploded if not for the hard work of fire crews.

- Fire crews prepared for a significant bush fire risk today, however they were confronted with a building fire in the eastern suburbs instead.
Fire & Rescue NSW received numerous triple zero calls after smoke & flames could be seen across the city.
On arrival a 4th alarm structure fire was declared and crews from around the Sydney metro area responded.
A resident also contacted triple zero after being trapped with fear in the emergency stairwell. Fire crews located and escorted the resident to safety.
All other residents in the fifty seven units were able to escape without injury.
The top floor entertainment area was completely destroyed by the fire and there is a suspicion that a BBQ may have been the cause.
