More than 1,500 people died when the Titanic struck an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean on 15 April 1912, causing the boat to sink.
In the BBC documentary The Great Liners from 1979, he vividly depicted the harrowing events of that historic night.
Prentice described how the Titanic sinking continued to haunt him in his dreams for decades afterward.

- Corals turning white and dying after record heat, say scientists | BBC News
- Date posted
- Description
- Coral around the world is turning white and even dying as recent record ocean heat takes a devastating toll.
It has triggered the fourth global mass coral bleaching event, according to the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
Bleaching happens when coral gets stressed and turns white because the water it lives in is too hot.
Coral sustains ocean life, fishing, and creates trillions of dollars of revenue annually.
Ocean heat records have been falling for months but this is the first global evidence of how this episode is affecting sea life.

- India election: How Prime Minister Modi's ruling party is trying to reach southern voters | BBC News
- Date posted

- Description
- India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his party, the BJP, are exceptionally popular but with most of their support in India’s northern states the BJP barely has a presence in the south.
Modi doesn’t need the south to win a majority. Nevertheless he is determined to change that, campaigning heavily in states like Tamil Nadu. But will it make a difference?
India's 2024 general election is being held over six weeks between 19 April and 1 June and will be the biggest the world has ever seen.
PM Modi is hoping to win a third successive term, but opposition parties say Indians face the loss of many freedoms if he stays in power.
The BBC's South Asia Correspondent Samira Hussain reports.
