Clint Smith (I) is a longtime Republican who changed his party affiliation to Independent in 2021. Smith collected nearly 8,000 signatures from independent voters to capture a spot on the November ballot. He says he is not happy with the Republican party in Arizona.

After that he was elected as Arizona’s attorney general, but lost a reelection bid amid allegations of campaign finance violations and an FBI investigation that unveiled an extra-marital affair. Seeking public office once more, Horne is running on a platform that includes fighting critical race theory, stopping cancel culture and promoting patriotism.
Kathy Hoffman (D) is running for reelection after winning as a first-time candidate in 2018. She previously worked as a preschool teacher and a speech-language pathologist. As superintendent, she’s been a strong advocate of public schools and an opponent of expanding access to Empowerment Scholarship Accounts, Arizona’s school voucher program.

Lauren Kuby (D) is a two-term councilmember and former vice mayor of Tempe. She is a sustainability scientist at ASU and has platforms of climate action and clean energy.
Nick Myers (R) is policy advisor to current commissioner Justin Olson. He worked to initiate changes at the former Johnson Utilities is running to uphold "just and reasonable rates and charges."

- Proposition 128 would allow the Arizona State Legislature to amend or repeal voter-approved ballot initiatives if any portion has been declared unconstitutional or invalid by the Arizona Supreme Court or U.S. Supreme Court. Proposition 128 keeps the Voter Protection Act in place, meaning that the legislature will still be unable to change or override measures passed by the voters as long as those measures are Constitutional and in compliance with the law. Under current law, the state legislature is powerless to correct the illegal or unconstitutional language.
