- One year ago, former Congresswoman Jackie Walorski, Zach Potts, Emma Thomson, and Edith Schmucker died in a crash on State Road 19 and State Road 119 in Elkhart County.
Congressman Rudy Yakym, who was elected to take Jackie Walorski’s District 2 Congressional seat, is remembering Walorski and honoring the three other lives lost in the crash.
"Today is August 3rd, which means a long year has passed since we tragically lost my dear friend Jackie Walorski, along with Emma Thomson, Zach Potts, and Edith Schmucker.
I know for many of us, not a day goes by that we don’t think about and miss Jackie. I know that’s especially true for Jackie’s family.
And although time helps heal some of the anguish, her loss left a giant hole in the Second District community that cannot easily be filled.
Those we lost last year also left us to reflect on our own lives.

The Indiana state Fair is celebrating basketball ahead of the 2024 All-star Game set to be played right in the Hoosier state next year.
On top of an indoor interactive exhibit space curated with Pacers sports and entertainment, this year’s fair also tips off with an outdoor basketball-themed amusement park, rides, food vendors, and unique displays, along with some major upgrades.
“The Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion is our century-old swine barn that just underwent a $50 million renovation,” said Anna Whelchel, Chief Marketing and Sales Officer. “It was our last outdoor livestock barn that had not been renovated into a multipurpose, multi-use facility that we can use outside of those 18 days of the Indiana State Fair.”

- SOUTH BEND, Ind. - South Bend Riley head coach Darrick Lee, in his second year at the helm, is gearing up his team for what looks to be a competitive season on the south side of South Bend.
The Wildcats are coming off a (5-5) season last year and haven't been above .500 since 2018. Coach Lee wants to be more of the aggressor this season. "We want to kind of be the bullies on the block, if you will".
"Coach Lee said if you want to go 5-5 again, do the same stuff we did last year. He's really been on us about showing up, being leaders and helping the younger cats out." said Riley senior Dominick Jolley.
Riley will kick off the season on the road at John Glenn on August 25.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A manhunt is underway in South Bend as police look for a suspect who led them on a high-speed chase, ditched his car, and then ran away.
There are unconfirmed reports that shots were fired.
Officials say the pursuit began in Niles in Berrien County and ended near Memorial Hospital and Mcdonald's in Downtown South Bend on Martin Luther King jr. Drive.
There's currently a large police presence in Downtown South Bend with multiple roads blocked off.
Officials say the chase started in Niles and went south down 933.

“My parents we came here as basically when I was born,” said Scott Robertson, Executive Board Park President.
“My great grandfather was one of the first board presidents for quite some time. So, we've been around a long time,” said Linda Emerson an Executive Park Board Member.

- SOUTH HAVEN, Mich., - ABC57 Road Trip continued this week in the popular tourist destination of South Haven Michigan, home to Bumbleberry Acres, a family-owned U-pick farm.
With U-Pick season officially underway, things are already buzzing at Bumbleberry, home to hundreds of acres of blueberries.
“Our family actually owns about 300 acres of blueberries, and prior to us purchasing this farm, this farm was run just as a small U-Pick family-like farm just for people to come and pick,” said Beth Bocock, the Owner and Manager of Bumbleberry Acres.
The farm now offers so much more than just seven different varieties of fresh blueberries for picking.
“We wanted to make a place that would be an adventure that we would take our children to if we were going on vacation somewhere,” explained Bocock.
The 15 children among all the farm owners helped to inspire a unique experience catered to kids.

“He (Justin Kinzie) brings energy, he brings younger energy that we can relate to; we are just high school kids, so we relate to that on the field and off the field as well.” said senior Conner Dye.
